Harlequin's Slash Fic

No Longer Updating this Site…

Hello, fellow fans!

This site was so important to me back when I created it – only eleven years ago in late 2008! The world has changed so much that it feels like eleventy years! At the time I was after an independent place to post my fic in ways that wouldn’t be under anyone else’s control.

Since then, of course, AO3 has really come into its own. I created an account there in early 2010, but I didn’t really commit to it for a long while. Now I have! I’ve been uploading a lot of my old fic over recent months, and it’s all gone onto AO3…

If you’re interested, you can find me there on AO3 as julie, along with my historical pseuds.

I’ll leave this site here, as it still gets a lovely amount of traffic, and of course I’ll reply to any comments, but otherwise this is me officially moving house.

all the love, Julie ♥

Of Ghosts and Gooseberries

Title: Of Ghosts and Gooseberries
Author: Harlequin
Universe: Merlin
Characters featured: Leon, Arthur, Merlin
Category, Word count: Short story; 2,010 words
Rating: PG13
Summary: Arthur is rather surprised when Leon visits him late one night in order to read him poetry.
Notes: A humble offering for my dear friend Cello on her birthday … with apologies that the story didn’t turn out quite as Leon or I wished! (My sister suggests I write a sequel for you, for your next birthday.)
Set immediately following ep 503 The Death Song of Uther Pendragon, and humbly borrowing Poem #31 by Sappho.
Just in case it’s not clear, the word “gooseberry” in this context is an informal British usage: “a third person in the company of two people, especially lovers, who would prefer to be alone, e.g. ‘they didn’t want me playing gooseberry on their first date’.”

Beltane

Title: Beltane
Author: Harlequin
Universe: Merlin
Characters featured: Gaius/Merlin
Category, Word count: Short story; 4,200 words
Rating: R
Summary: Gaius hasn’t seen Merlin since the aftermath of Camlann, and misses him dreadfully, but the Beltane celebrations bring a number of visitors to Camelot along with the promise of renewed life.
Notes: For riventhorn, in humble gratitude for the beautiful story Ember Day, and also for isisanubis and moonflower999. I love that you all love these two men as much as I do.
With humble apologies to those who know far more about Beltane and all things medieval than I do. I’m afraid I went with the show’s example of wantonly borrowing and adapting only what suited the story.

Then I Defy You, Stars

Title: Then I Defy You, Stars
Author: Stew
Universe: Tombstone
Characters featured: Doc Holliday/Juliet (OFC), Doc Holliday & Wyatt Earp
Category, Word count: Story; 34,000 words

Summary: My version of Doc’s early years, his affair with the cousin he oh-so-briefly mentions in the film, and his later life, including his friendship with Wyatt. It is almost entirely a figment of my overactive imagination.
Notes: With thanks to William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, John Keats and Frederic Chopin for quotes and inspiration.
